As I mentioned in my last blog post, the energy began to shift in July when Mars went direct and moved into the sign of Leo (June 17 – July 27, 2025). Personally, I’ve been feeling more confident and forward motion ever since. Now, as Mars moves into Libra (August 6 through September 22), we are invited to work with a new rhythm of energy—one that calls us to balance our passions with discernment.
This past Friday, August 15 at 3pm Central Time, the skies offered us something extraordinary: two grand trines (one in fire and one in air), forming a six-pointed star in the heavens. A powerful reminder that the cosmos is weaving harmony, and divine moments that can offer insights and bring upon opportunities, as we navigate our paths here on Earth. This energy harnesses mental insights and taking creative action inspired by our deepest passions.
Mars in Libra: Detriment & Decision-Making
While Mars transits Libra over the next couple of months, it is considered “in detriment” – or unfavorable – in Libra. Mars wants direct action—quick, fiery, decisive. Libra seeks balance, justice, harmony. Together, this can create friction. You may feel caught in too many choices, too much thinking, and not enough action. Decisions may not feel as immediate or straightforward. But this is not a bad thing—it’s simply a call to be mindful and intentional.
The last time Mars was in Libra was October through December of 2021. Reflect back—what were you working on then? What choices or passions were stirring? Simple actions implemented at that time may be coming into fruition now, or asking you to take yet another small next step forward.
As I reflect back on that time in October 2021, I was volunteering on the Uptown Strawbale House in Minneapolis, learning hands-on about natural building. I signed up as a lead volunteer for two weeks, learning each step of strawbale construction on a single-family home. That experience opened the door to work with a leading women-owned high-performance architecture firm in the cities. It was also the season I chose to dedicate myself to becoming a Phius Passive House Consultant—a year-long training that has shaped so much of my professional path since.
At the time, it was not easy to choose. I had several options in front of me, and doubt could have easily paralyzed me. What helped me then—and still helps me today—is a simple yet powerful exercise I call the “Magic Papers.”
The Magic Papers: A Tool for Clarity and Action
When faced with many choices, it is easy to ruminate endlessly and stall in fear of making the “wrong” move. The Magic Papers exercise cuts through this energy with clarity. Here’s the process:
- Cut strips of paper equal in size.
- Write down each option, including one that simply says “Other.”
- Fold them up so they look identical.
- Hold them in your hands, set your intention, and say: “This piece of paper is the next step I should take.” Then throw them like dice and choose the one you feel called to.
- Open it—see how it resonates.
- Next, repeat the process with the words: “This is an option I can let go of.”
This exercise helps you tap into your intuition and move forward with confidence. I used it when deciding whether to pursue Passive House training—a certification that required significant time and financial investment without any guarantee of return. Choosing it, however, opened doors to opportunities, accomplishments, and community I never could have imagined. Four years later, I am certifying a Phius Zero home in central Minnesota and collaborating with national leaders to gain support for Strawbale and Hempcrete in the state’s residential building code. These milestones were impossible to foresee at the time, yet they grew from the small, passion-driven steps I chose to take.
I encourage you to acknowledge your growth and celebrate your wins that have emerged from four years ago.
Harvest Season Reflections
Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we are shifting from summer into autumn—a natural time of harvest. Reflect on what you have already grown this year, and consider the last actions to take before winter settles in. The choices you make now, however small, may ripple into profound transformations years down the line—just as my “insignificant” act of volunteering in 2021 has since helped me shape state-wide building code for natural materials.
This is the energy of Mars in Libra: the small step taken in balance and alignment now may become a foundation for something much greater later.
