Greetings! I write this post amidst moving out of my apartment, and much needed break to gain perspective about my current circumstances. I’m sure many of you have dealt with your own challenges amongst transition – like relocation, employment change, relationship issues, and many more – that turn your world up-side-down. When I’m facing these types of immediate challenges – or “Tower Moments” – I recognize the importance of taking a step back, remember to breathe, and take a broader view from another vantage point. Doing a tarot reading (or getting a professional reading) is a helpful and powerful way to gain insight during stressful times.
While clearing out my home, I was toiling over the uncertainties of not knowing my long-term game plan for this transition, so much feels up-in-the-air. As I was sorting through my possessions, it dawned on me (as a rising Virgo, a sign that loves to sort things into black and white categories) that my astrological placements could be a resource to help me through. I was inspired by this thought, motivating me take a look at the astrological aspects of myself (sun, moon, and rising signs) and how each sign can empower me during this transition.
Inspired to delve in, I quickly took out my cards and started shuffling and pulled 12 cards into four columns and three rows. The horizontal rows carry the astrological placements (sun, moon, and rising signs). The middle row represents my Gemini sun placement, the bottom row, Aries moon, and the top row, Virgo rising. The vertical columns represent the questions regarding each astrological placement.
The second column cards were pulled first, starting with the middle (Gemini sun), bottom (Aries moon), and top (Virgo rising) and asked the anchoring question, “How is my sun, moon, and rising sign handling this move?” The third column clarifies the second column for each card placement. The fourth, far right column asks, “What is the strength of each placement during this move?”. The first, far left column (cards 10 ,11 , 12) were placed last, and asked “What is the lesson about this move for each of these placements?”
Tarot Reading
Column 2: How is my sun, moon, and rising sign handling this move?
1: Gemini Sun and I Magician – the Magician card is action oriented, creating ‘magic’ via a direct conduit from the divine creator. This is a time to take creative action, use all the tools and resources available to create and manifest better outcomes. It’s very exciting! and it shows promise for a new chapter. Take the necessary action steps and free will to make it happen. It is possible to create a better life!
2: Aries Moon and VII Chariot (Rx) – The reversal of the Chariot card signifies the uncertainty and emotional instability of Aries moon. Aries operates better when there is an inspiring vision to take action from, but the lack of focus, vision, and passion to execute the move, is wasting precious energy. Have compassion during this process, and be careful not to overreact and make it more stressful than it has to be. Don’t get too emotionally invested, instead, commit to a practical plan and execute it.
3: Virgo Rising and XVI The Tower (Rx) – well here it is, the Tower card, clear as day, pointing to this transition being a necessary one. Virgo doesn’t like surprises, and the Tower card reversed indicates that this move is actually a preemptive way to get out before calamity strikes. No sign, especially Virgo, likes the instability and discomfort brought on by “Tower Moments”, so it’s best to heed the warning signs and move on, averting any real significant calamity or hardship.
Column 3: Clarify the second column card placements.
4: Gemini Sun and Ten of Pentacles – This is such a hopeful card to clarify the Magician card. It tells me that it is possible to create a life of lasting abundance, and this transition is the right, next step. The Ten of Pentacles also indicates that a strong legacy is being built in this next chapter, where family and friends are there for support. Ask for help and build resources for a stronger network. Utilize group power and people with shared values. Don’t overlook the individuals that have been by my side through thick and thin.
5: Aries Moon and XVIII The Moon – this is an uncanny card to show up to clarify the Chariot card reversed and my Aries moon sign. This reinforces that there is great uncertainty and my emotions are tied deeply to it. I may be feeling stuck, even frozen at times, because I’m not sure how to proceed. But the Moon card illuminates my intuition. Take action from a sense of inner knowing and animalistic approach, rely on instinct rather than over-thinking. Be courageous and trust!
6: Virgo Rising and Six of Swords (Rx) – the Six of Swords reversed clarifying the Tower card reversed provides some insight about how important it is to move on before the tower is struck by lightening and collapses. You don’t have to tell me twice! Keep going, don’t look back at the rough waters, they will soon be a thing of the past. Don’t delay, and don’t take too much with you, those possessions are of the past. Look towards the horizon which promises a hopeful new beginning.
Column 4: What is the strength of each placement during this move?
7: Gemini Sun and Five of Wands – the Five of Wands plays off of the creative energy and spirit of Gemini bolstered by the Magician card. It shows that there are many different ways to approach problems, by testing them, trying out different avenues, and using passion for fuel. The Five of Wands doesn’t get stuck. It is fluid, like dancing flames of a fire, freely moving from one inspiring idea to the next. This card exclaims that I have free will to create an inspiring new chapter born from this “Tower Moment”.
8: Aries Moon and IV The Emperor – another uncanny card pull that directly characterizes the Aries Moon. The Emperor is a Major Arcana card that is associate with the zodiac sign of Aries. Given now, two cards in this row are literal representations of the Moon in Aries (the Moon and Emperor cards) is something to note. The strength of the Emperor is very powerful, the Emperor knows which battles to fight and which ones to avoid. He’s seen and won many battles over his reign, and he has the keen wisdom to know how to build a strong and everlasting empire with great protection. Don’t let deceptive and untethered emotions get the better of me. This card speaks to emotional acumen developed over my life, and I’m adept at dealing with change. The Emperor card affirms my success to face these challenges, time and time again.
9: Virgo Rising and Six of Cups (Rx) – there are two patterns showing up in the top row for Virgo rising: the number six and a series of reversal cards. First off, the reversals are indicative that my rising sign in Virgo is not coping very well. The number six is associated with the astrological house ruled by Virgo – the house of health and service. This move is taking a greater toll on my work and health routines, more than I’d like to admit. However, in numerology, the number six is associated with a momentary opportunity for love and abundance, for which I can attest is also in flux at this very moment. Diving in more specifically, the Six of Cups reversed empowers me with the foresight to change my circumstances before circumstances change me. This card encourages me to reflect on all the “Tower Moments” on the past and focus on the positive outcomes. Albeit past collapses may have caused significant heartbreak, loss, and hardship, the Six of Cups is an opportunity to gain awareness and a balanced viewpoint and a softer reflection about the past. It is important to remember that there can be a sweetness in it all, be grateful for these opportunities to restart your life from a place of authenticity and solid foundation. This is an opportunity to let go of outdated ways of being.
Column 1: What is the lesson about this move for each placement?
10: Gemini Sun and XIV Temperance – the lesson for my Gemini sun placement is to balance scattered energy and indecision. Trust the process and this transitional point along my life’s journey and know when to take time out. Utilize alchemy of past experiences to create a whole new outcome. This can be a fun adventure, and remember that there is divine presence surrounding me at this time.
11: Aries Moon and Nine of Cups – the Nine of Cups card has a saying, “be careful of what you wish for, because you just might get it!” – it rings true here and it is a good reminder that I did wish this into my life. I’ve been wanting to move for some time now, and I started to put energy into “up-leveling” my life a couple of months ago by incorporating Marie Kondo’s ‘spark joy’ home organizing methods and began drastically clearing out old items. Putting this into motion has escalated the efforts full throttle. My Aries moon is feeling it, and it can be a freeing process for greater joy, if I can just see it that way.
12: Virgo Rising and VI The Lovers – Virgo loves working towards positive progress and getting results for their effort. The Lovers card indicates a need to make choices and act from the heart. Virgo is great at putting their nose to the grind stone to get work done, but they can also get too bogged down into the details, it’s important to take a break and look up once in a while and get a clear understanding as to “why” all the effort. Perhaps the struggle of making everything perfect isn’t necessary, and make effective decisions, based on love instead of fear.
Reading Summary
Like many tarot readings that I do for myself, I am pleasantly surprised by its message. I have a better understanding of my astrological placements and how it’s manifesting during this move. My Gemini Sun placement (a light and airy sign that doesn’t get too bogged down with material aspects of life) is actually handling this move quite well, even finding creative opportunities and hope for a fresh start, and it doesn’t look so dire as my moon or my rising sign placements suggest. The time is right, so take it one step at a time, be open to new possibilities, that perhaps I haven’t yet tried or dreamed up – yet. Remember that I’ve endured many moves before, and I have gained wisdom and foresight to know that it will all be fine once I get over the hump. Thank my present home for all its comfort, sanctuary, and gifts these past years, and welcome in a new place that will better serve me and represent who I am in this next chapter. There are so many possibilities – and remember, choose love.
