“On Earth Day I . . .”

Greetings Friends! Today is Earth Day. In honor of our beautiful planet – I found this message from the earthday.org website – “On Earth Day I …” [ complete in your own words ] – a blessing or goal to give back a bit of stewardship and gratitude. When I think of Earth Day, what comes to mind is environmental clean-up, like picking up litter along the beaches, parks, rivers, forests, and other natural places. And partaking in outdoor activities to enjoy these natural wonders with friends and family.

It’s always interesting how the season and planetary placements support these events. Earth Day occurs on April 22, when the Sun is in Taurus. The zodiac sign of Taurus is represented by the bull, a fixed earth sign ruled by planet Venus, which is associated with love and beauty. The attributes of the Sun in Taurus relate to stability and building strong foundations that can produce large returns on investments. Those born under the sign of Taurus, have a knack for business acumen, and dedication for building long-term growth and wealth, through steady and loving action. Along the way, I learned that love and money resonate at similar frequencies, which reinforces those attributes associated with Venus ruling Taurus – through loving action, can produce quality “fruits”. Put some love into your work and activities, because adding a little love – like in cooking – always makes the food taste better!

Other planetary energies affecting us at this time, is Mercury going retrograde (which is when the planet’s orbit appears to move backwards in relation to Earth for about 3 weeks). This retrograde period happens in the sign of Taurus from April 21 through May 14. Retrogrades tend to slow things down, whereby, Mercury rules communication, travel, and the mind. It’s wise to take precautions at this time because of the likelihood for miscommunication and missteps. Triple check emails and contracts for errors, and if possible, postpone signing any contracts or agreements until after the retrograde period is over. Have patience, as travel delays may be more prevalent. On the flip side, retrograde periods are great for going inward to reflect upon life areas that can use some pruning and nurturing. In this case, Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Taurus which puts a focus on where you’re investing your time and energy, especially in the things that you love, your work and business, and growing your wealth and assets. This retrograde also coincides with Earth Day, so this is a great time to think about your investment in one of our biggest assets – Earth!

“On Earth Day I…” am realizing that I can be more intentional and consistent in my stewardship with Mother Earth. I hope this message encourages you to think about simple ways to conserve and enjoy our planet on a daily basis. Earth is our home, she provides so much for us, and we really do need to step up to work in better harmony. This message isn’t meant to be reprimanding, but rather a friendly reminder that we can all find ways to take daily and loving action towards restoring a better relationship with our planet. I hope you find some time to enjoy Earth’s beauty today!
