Greetings, it’s the Sagittarius new moon and the day before U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. This new moon brings about a restless energy stirring inside each of us. We’re eager to explore what is pulling at our heart strings, to seek deeper truths about our own unique existence here on planet earth, and the common strings that connect us to one another. We yearn to temper seemingly disparate beliefs, and find central themes that help us better understand greater humanity, and our spiritual beliefs.

Sagittarius is the 9th zodiac sign in the element of fire. It’s the only zodiac fire sign that burns during the darkest time of the year in the northern hemisphere. It occurs just after Scorpio (season of death and transformation) and before the winter solstice, ushers in longer, light-filled days ahead. The Sagittarius fire element is like the red hot coals that are leftover after a roaring bonfire. The smoldering coals burn hot, great for cooking and gathering quiet conversations between a few good friends (or strangers), story telling of wild adventures, and boisterous laughter. Being the 9th sign, it symbolizes mastery and higher education, expansion of the mind and broadened views, learning from experiences, and seeking freedom and higher truths.

Sagittarius is represented by the centaur, half-human / half-horse, symbolizing higher knowledge and wisdom but with animalistic wildness, which might be why Sagittarius is so attractive. Sagittarius is also known as the “archer”, or hunter of the zodiac, with a bow and arrow aimed towards higher truth and knowledge seeking. One of the most fascinating aspects of this constellation, is that it contains the galactic center of the Milky Way, and thousands of star clusters and nebulae -which perhaps, is the source of all knowledge that Sagittarius seeks.

The planet Jupiter rules Sagittarius, which is the planet associated with good luck and expansion. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, mostly made up of gas, it protects the other planets from asteroids because of its size and gravitational pull. We are lucky to have Jupiter! People born under the sign of Sagittarius are known to have large, expansive, and warm personalities. They are also born with luck on their side -especially in foreign travel and learning. Given this lucky placement, Sagittarius can practice gratitude and share their good luck and fortune with others, be humble, and have the awareness that not everyone is born so lucky.

With this Sagittarius new moon, a light shines for us during these short days and long nights. The planet Jupiter (which as been retrograde since July 28) goes direct in Pisces expanding our hopes and dreams. Jupiter is wrapping up its last transit through Pisces until December 20, which Jupiter will not be in Pisces for another 12 years or so. This is an excellent time to broaden your dreams and seek higher truths for yourself and the greater community, then implement them when Jupiter moves into Aries, sparking action towards your dreams, into the year 2023.

‘Tis Sagittarius season, surround yourself with good company at Thanksgiving and share in the bounty of good food, conversation, and generosity. Welcome strangers to your table, and find commonality among differing points of view. Let the spirit of luck, expansion, and gratitude continue all month-long.

Ask yourself:

How can I broaden my views, and take action towards seeking greater truths?

What new adventures are in store for me this year?

How can I share my good fortune with others?

source: (Left) Rider-Waite and (Right) Zodiac Tarot Temperance Cards

In the Rider-Waite tarot deck, Sagittarius is represented by the Temperance card, which is the 14th card in the major arcana. This card shows Archangel Gabriel, known for healing and spiritual communication, pouring water between two chalices, symbolizing the alchemy of opposing beliefs. One foot is dipping in the water, and the other foot is secure on the ground, representing both spiritual and earthly forces. The Temperance card comes after the Death card (ruled by Scorpio), which brings a period of healing, balance, and respite after undergoing loss and spiritual transformation. Temperance allows one to take a pause on their journey, drink in the healing waters, and regain a sense of balance while synthesizing their beliefs about themselves and the world, before continuing on their journey.

The Temperance card reminds us to take a moment of reflection this time of the year, and give thanks to our journey thus far. It also instills the notion of taking the middle road, finding commonality among opposition, or a fork in the road.

I hope this new moon message brings inspiration and supports you on your journey.

Last note, my rates will be going up at the new year, so book a session with me to receive the current rates.

Enjoy! – Keep on Dancing!
